A covenant is borne on the basis of a worked-out obedience that is mostly mutual. Covenants that would be successful and reckoned does not proceed obedience, it a seal of a working obedience. The reward for obedience in progress-covenant.
The bible is replete with who our friends should and what Friendship should mean to us believers. Friendship is initiated whenever two or more individuals acknowledges a sense of (mutual) relevance and developed a sincere respect for (each of) the other. So we have friends even among siblings.
A retrospection through the fantasy of the pre-adult phase of my life, when I’d often find myself with friends of likeminded rehearsing on who we would love to marry future. Sometimes we even mentioned names; funny memories they are.
More fantasy yet was in my early adulthood. I could still see myself encumbered by the thought of who to marry. I’d have a lot of mind swing. Today, I’m well pleased by Sister
THE EPIC OF COVENANT RELATIONSHIP: LEARNING FROM THE FRIENDSHIP OF JESUS WITH MARY, MARTHA, AND LAZARUS.
The account of our Lord’s dealings with Mary and her sibling is one with enormous spiritual insights. Albeit, we would only take a toll on the aspects of their relationship to further our knowledge on covenant relationship.
Just as our grace level grows proportionately to the level of the knowledge of God we have. So also do the knowledge of one another we have afford us with a measure of grace with one another necessary for an effective purposeful relationship.
Continuing with the series on covenant relationship, the friendship of David and Jonathan highlights enormously the terms that compose the content of what constitutes covenant relationship. There would be no where in the church where the subject of friendship is being discussed that references would not be made to David and Jonathan’s. There doesn’t seem to be a godlier example of friendship in the Bible.
The case of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego is another biblical examples of Covenant relationships that is completely Divine. Theirs is a highlight of Proverbs 18:24 ‘a friend who sticks closer than a brother’. The Divine factor in their relationship is most overwhelming in the various ways God used them to show King Nebuchadnezzar and the entire Babylonians that God is great and the only God .
Who is qualified for a Christian relationship?
Christian relationship in the most scenario has existed in the church more as a hidden or pretentious act rather than a valued behavior. Recently truth has become very accessible; such that a better solution would be to x-ray the situation properly.
Thus, one is qualified for a Christian relationship if he/she had secured a provable relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.
God draws us together to Himself for privileges of relationship with Him and with one another; for a fellowship with Him and with one another (‘fading’in UNEC)
Friendship is an extension of fellowship with one another
People who are without God do not truly understand love and therefore cannot truly understand friendship. I John4:20
Relationships are very potent for a successful journey of life. Relationships are one of the key tools God uses to purposefully work in the lives of His potential vessels. Especially, divine relationships are God’s means of taking us through to the purposes of our life.
